Al Ahly players started on Sunday their preparations for the game against AS Vita Club, scheduled on Tuesday in Matchday 4 of the CAF Champions League group stage.
The Red Eagles had their first training session at Stade des Martyrs, which will host the game.
COVID-19 Test
Before the start of our first training in DR Congo, Al Ahly's football first-team underwent a COVID-19 test, as part of the precautionary measures that are set by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to combat the spread of coronavirus pandemic.
First Session
The training began with a quick meeting between our head coach Pitso Mosimane and the players to discuss several tactical points related to the match.
Egypt’s Ambassador to DR Congo, Hamdy Shaaban attended the session and then accompanied the players to the team’s residency, as he is keen to provide all the facilitations to our delegation.
Injury Updates
Our defender Mohamed Hany needed two stitches in his eyebrow following a tackle during the training.
Al Ahly’s head of medical staff, Dr. Ahmed Abu Abla, stated that Hany will join the team’s full training on Monday and he will be available for Tuesday’s match against AS Vita Club.
Mosimane and Al Ahly players checked on the player’s condition after the training.
On a similar note, Dr. Ahmed Abu Abla added that Amr El Soulia and Taher Mohamed Taher will join the team’s full training on Monday.
El Soulia and Taher did some recovery exercises away from their teammates, as part of their rehabilitation program.
Pre-match Training
Al Ahly will hold the pre-match training session on Monday at Stade des Martyrs. as per the rules and regulations of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The CAF allows the away team to have two training sessions at the home team's ground prior to the match if the stadium has an artificial turf field.
